Happenings for the Remainder of the Year

Note:  NO REGULAR MEETINGS IN NOVEMBER & DECEMBER. 

However, Steve will host a Holiday Luncheon on December 14th at Noon at his Studio.  It will be a potluck-style luncheon and there will be a Gift Exchange.  

PS:  Knowing Steve, there will be some kind of fun game or weaving trivia he will issue at the luncheon...it's always fun!

October 19, 2024 Program

Tawanda did a great job presenting Navajo Style Tapestry Weaving at our October 19th Guild meeting on a custom-made loom she and her husband built.

Our monthly meeting will be Saturday, October 19, 2024 beginning at 10 am at the Birchwood Community Center.

The SVH Guild will NOT meet in May due to their participation in the Birchwood Fiber Festival.

April Guild Meeting

Our monthly meeting will be Saturday, April 20, 2024 beginning at 10 am at the Birchwood Community Center. (R&M Yarns will be open from 9-9:30 that morning for shopping.)

• The first hour of the meeting will be an informal, relaxed atmosphere where you can work on individual projects, visit, etc.

• Program:  "Hemstitching" by guild members.  Several different ways to hemstitch or finish the edges of handwovens will be demonstrated by those who signed up in February for a particular stitch.  You should bring your own loom, etc. for the demonstration.
  
  
• Show & Share: bring whatever you've finished weaving to show or discuss for motivation and inspiration to others.

March Guild Meeting

Our monthly meeting will be Saturday, March 16, 2024 beginning at 10 am at the Birchwood Community Center. (R&M Yarns will be open from 9-9:30 that morning for shopping.)

• The first hour of the meeting will be an informal, relaxed atmosphere where you can work on individual projects, visit, etc.

• Program:  "Color" by Jane.  Each person is to bring: a problem yarn; a favorite yarn & a light & dark yarn (put your name on each).
  
  
• Bring any "unwanted" yarn to the meeting for a swap, for sale or donation.
  
  
• Show & Share: bring whatever you've finished weaving to discuss for motivation and inspiration to others.
  
  
  

February Guild Meeting

Our monthly meeting will be Saturday, February 17th and will be held at the Birchwood Community Center.  (If the heat is not working, the meeting will be held at R&M YARNS; check back close to the meeting date for any changes.)

Our new meeting format will continue this year because of the positive response:

• beginning at 10 am we will enjoy an informal, relaxed time of working on individual projects, visiting, checking out our neighbors' projects, etc. (weaving, knitting, crochet, felting, etc.)
  
  
• business meeting: 11 to approx. 11:30 a.m.
  
  
• enjoy "Show & Share" where we present our latest, finished weaving projects for inspiration and motivation!
  
  
• Program: TBA but each member should be prepared to list a HEMSTITCH they will demonstrate at the April meeting.  You may want to bring a RH loom for the demo or ask to demo on someone else's loom (make those arrangements prior to the April meeting).

CHANGE OF MEETING LOCATION FOR JANUARY 20TH MEETING

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  the location where we usually meet is NOT SUITABLE nor SAFE and there's NO HEAT for our meeting tomorrow, January 20th.

So please come to R&M Yarns for the meeting beginning at 10 a.m.  We'll meet in the Studio.  Remember to bring your personal projects to work on from 10 to 11am then our regular meeting will start.

We will have a "brain storming" session to see what everyone wants to learn this year then we'll have a short video with some really helpful weaving tips and tricks.
