October 21, 2017 Guild Meeting

Our next monthly Guild meeting will be Saturday, October 21st, at the R&M Yarns Studio, 8510 Hwy. 60, Georgetown, TN 37336.  (423.961.0690)  The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. with greeting, shopping and coffee (bring your own K-cup).  The business session will begin at 9:30 a.m.

There is a lot to discuss and share at this meeting so we hope everyone can attend!

1.  The indigo dye pot will be at the meeting if anyone did NOT get to dye their woven shibori scarf from the workshop on September 9th and 16th.

2.  Those that finished their woven shibori scarf (or scarves) and got to dye them in the indigo pot, please bring them for "show and share" and a group photo.

3.  The 2017 Guild Challenge, "It's in the Bag" is due and everyone is encouraged to bring their finished bag and share details.

4.  Bring ideas for the 2018 Guild Challenge and also ideas for a weekend workshop in 2018.

5.  Bring ideas for a guest instructor to come and do a workshop in 2019....what would you like to learn?

6.  Nominees and elections for the 2018 SVH Guild Board will also happen at this meeting.  Please be ready and willing to step up and get involved!

Everyone has different ideas and brings their own uniqueness to the group.  It's nice to move the leadership roles around so we keep new ideas coming in and continue to be inspiring to new weavers and members.  Often new weavers make the best officers because they are so excited and motivated to learn.

Officer positions include:  President or Chair; Program Leader (can be 2 people); Secretary/Social Media (can be split); Treasurer (Phyllis is willing to continue in this role.  Changing everything at the Bank is a big deal but she will turn it over if someone else wants the position.)

SEE EVERYONE THIS COMING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21st!!!

September 16th Shibori Dye Workshop

Check out the process of dyeing our Shibori-woven scarves in an Indigo Pot prepared by Steve P.  Notice how the scarves appear to be green in the dyepot and after being subjected to oxygen, they turn a beautiful blue!  Fun class taught by Donna and Steve.

Our finished scarves will be on display at the October 21st Guild meeting.  Come and check them out!
